Margrethe Bowls
for mixing, storing, serving or just enjoy looking at

The Iconic Danish Margrethe Bowls were designed by count Sigvard Bernadotte, who was our Danish Queen Margrethe II’s Swedish uncle. The bowls were first produced in 1954 at which time our Queen was only 12 years old. Since then the melamine bowls have gained non-skid rings on the bottom and are now also produced in 9 sizes (ranging from 150 ml to 5 litre) and presented in 13 happy colours, contemporary, irresistible and very tactile.

The bowls are distinguished by quality, design and functionality. They are scratch resistant and anti-slip. My eldest bowl is from 1974 and still looking great. The bowls are dishwasher proof, but not suitable for freezing nor microwaving.

The bowls have been popular in Denmark since they were first launched in 1954 and in 1985 The Margrethe Bowl received the Danish Design Council’s ID Prize for industrial design and last value. Other awarded products were the Ant Chair (1952) by Arne Jacobsen, the Silver Bowl (1912) by Georg Jensen and the Fåborg Chair (1914) by Kåre Kling. In 1997 those 4 products were used on Danish post stamps.

No home is complete without the iconic Margrethe bowls
