Reiki is a natural healing practice that uses the energy of universal life force which is all around us, all the time. Life force energy is that subtle energy we unconsciously feel when we meet someone for the first time and know they’re kind, easy going, laid back or intense, nervous or a bit shady! It is based on the belief that when your life force energy is low or blocked, the body is more likely to suffer illness and stress. Reiki healers use the palms of their hands in sequences across the body to pass healing energy to the body. This helps restore the balance of energy and the body's natural healing process. Reiki heals on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. Rather than dealing with the symptoms of a problem, much like most medicines, reiki tends to the cause of the problem, for instance, a headache brought on from worry. Reiki helps to calm the mind so a solution becomes clear and the headache naturally disappears.

We at Live a Colourful Life are from the lineage family of Kate Beddow Growing Spirits and follow the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki which is thousands of years old. It is thought to have been used by the Tibetan Buddhist monks and rediscovered in the late 1800s by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. Reiki is a special kind of life force energy that can only be channelled after someone has been attuned to its energy. Here at Live a Colourful life Emily and Christine have both been attuned to Second Degree Reiki since July 2014.
