The Kismet has been in Whitley Bay for 45 years now and is the only Indian restaurant that is a family business owned by the same family from its start in 1967 to today. We have endured because of your continued support and our ability to bring you excellent food at low prices in comfortable and modern surroundings with a traditional atmosphere.
My father, the Late Mr Maklisur Rahman (RIP) opened this restaurant in 1967. Since his passing over 6 years ago, I along with my brothers and sister have continued to make certain that you receive the highest quality of food and service. It is of great joy and a source of pride for myself and my family to see you return week after week and that our staff continue to provide the experience you have come to enjoy and love.
Our Chef, who has been at the Kismet for over 8 years has recently moved his family closer to Whitley Bay which means we are extatic that he can continue to bring you the delicious food you have come to expect and enjoy.
Any stories about the chef changing or the Kismet being under new ownership are completely false.
I along with my younger brother were born in the residence above Kismet which was my parents home after they wed in 1968. The restaurant has never been sold and to this day has remained in my family.
