About Kat Clarke Physiotherapy:

Kat qualified as a human physiotherapist in 2007 and has since worked in a variety of NHS roles rotating through musculoskeletal, respiratory and neurological areas. She now specialises in Paediatrics and maintains her human skills working at Bristol Children's Hospital and treating private patients.

A period travelling abroad and working in South Australia on a horse farm inspired her to fulfil her childhood dream of working with animals; subsequently she qualified as a Veterinary Physiotherapist in 2015, now also specialising in both equine and canine rehabilitation. Kat completed her Masters project, with distinction, in Canine Rehabilitation techniques.

Kat is fully registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC), a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), is registered with the Association of Chartered Physiotherapy in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) as a Category A member and carries professional liability insurance. This extensive list of regulating bodies ensures a safe, high quality, up to date, evidence based service is supplied to the client.

From Human to Animal:

Kat's experience in the human field has been advantageous as hands on therapy techniques are similar in both humans and animals. In addition she has years of gait analysis experience which has transferred well onto 4 limbs. Working with children, she has become used to working with clients who cannot explain their pains and problems, which has transferred well into analysing her animal patients. Additionally she is used to being a part of a multi-disciplinary team and will work hard to communicate and work alongside the other professionals caring for your animal.

Within the human sector physiotherapists often work as a member of a larger team for support with complex cases and for ongoing professional development. For this reason Kat has began to work for other ACPAT physiotherapists; Molly Fursman & Kelly Dewsnip; this ensures they can support each other in difficult cases and provide continued learning and development. Her most exciting new venture is her small animal clinic at Highcroft Referrals, treating inpatients and outpatients.
