ISP was founded in 1987 by a small group of foster carers in Kent who were working with children from complex backgrounds. They recognised the need for an integrated programme of the very best care and specialist services for young people, so set up ISP as an independent organisation.

At ISP we focus on therapeutic foster care - it is central to our work - it means providing a safe, nurturing environment for a child in care. To ensure our foster carers are confident in therapeutic foster care, we offer a wide range of training and development, and support them 24 hours a day.

ISP works with schools to ensure that all our young people are placed at an appropriate school and that they are offered every opportunity to reach their academic potential. We provide a range of support services for young people in schools, either through direct work with the young person, or through collaborative working with a range of professionals in ISP, their school or the local authority.

We also run our own ISP School, rated as good with outstanding features by Ofsted, across two sites in Kent. Support services at the school include transport, therapy, educational psychology, and speech and language services.
