Get to know us a bit better...

Founded in 1990 by husband and wife partnership John and Ruth Hargreaves. Ilkley Cycles (formerly JD’s as its still known locally), provides a friendly environment for local and national cyclists to seek information, access great products and have their bikes professionally maintained.


The shop extends internally to some 3,000 sq.ft over 2 floors. The ground floor of the shop has a welcoming sales and reception area, an extensive display of bikes and the all new Fuel Station Cafe. Our display of bikes is surrounded by brand displays from leading cycle suppliers designed to suit the many and varied customers who visit the shop on a regular basis.

The ground floor is separated in design and decoration, to reprisent the bikes available in the different disciplines. The mountain biking area has a raised wooden decking, logs on the walls, wood chippings and rocky ground in the display areas - and even under foot fish tanks! Whilst the road bike section offers a more clean and minimalistic design of plush white tiles. Local children are well looked after too with a dedicated children’s bike section.

Occupying a prominent position on the first floor is the service centre, the heart of the business. This is where all new bikes are built and quality controlled by our Cytech qualified cycle technicians. They ensure that the cycling public receives top quality service to a very high standard. A comprehensive repair service is offered to all customers with any make of bikes, irrespective of where they were purchased.

Ilkley Cycles offer a range of demonstrations bikes which are available for full and comprehensive test rides - at no charge.
