The HNC in Music Production is aimed at advanced students who strive to be multi-skilled future professionals or entrepreneurs within the music industry.

You will develop a wide range of technical and professional skills for production, composition, performance with technology, business, and research. Students will also be supported to develop realistic and achievable career plans to help them reach their goals within the industry.

Within in the City centre, you will be based at our Arts Centre; a creative hub for students studying music, performing arts, media, journalism, art, fashion and computing. You will have access to our professional recording studios, computer suites and rehearsal facilities. Also based within the centre is our Apple Authorised Training Centre for Education (AATCe) and Roland Music Academy.

Special Features: In addition to the HNC Music Production programme, students will also have the opportunity to access our Apple Authorised Training Centre for Education (AATCe) and our Roland Music Academy.

Teaching Methods: Teaching will focus around industry driven projects and scenarios, enabling students to engage in both collaborative and individual work. Practical, oral and written work is undertaken to complete assessment of units. Students will receive detailed feedback to aid development of knowledge, understanding and the power of expression. Problem-solving, communication, and being responsible for own learning are also key aspects of the teaching methods used throughout the HNC course.

Assessment Methods: Through a series of industry driven projects and scenarios, this course will equip you with a range of creative, commercial and personal skills to give you a competitive edge. You will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout the year, covering both practical and written coursework. The majority of assessments will require a degree of independent research, and all will demand self management in order to meet deadlines.

Assessment will follow the regulations and practices of the Edexcel framework and is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Combined with your ambition, drive and talent, the HNC in Music Production will focus on how to create and produce music products, with a strong emphasis on developing a range of commercial skills needed to work with new technology and concepts within the digital market place.
