The Parish Council is charged with looking after the best interests of the communities of Hadley and Leegomery.

Hadley and Leegomery Parish Council provides some services – such as footpath lighting, the local cemetery and community centre – directly to the public itself. Other services are provided through partnership working with other organisations. For example, the Parish Environmental Team (PET) is funded by the Parish Council with support from Telford and Wrekin Council, and the service itself is delivered by Telford and Wrekin Services (TWS).

The Parish Council is a statutory consultee for all planning applications made within the parish and makes recommendations to Telford and Wrekin Council’s Planning Committee. The Parish Council also takes an active role in influencing borough, regional and central Government decisions that affect the Hadley and Leegomery.

Although operational responsibility for crime control lies with the police, the Parish Council monitors events closely and works with West Mercia Police’s Hadley and Leegomery Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) to ensure that the community is a safe and pleasant place in which to live.

Local voluntary groups, clubs and associations are independent of the Parish Council and manage their own affairs. However, such groups can apply to the Parish Council for financial assistance and where appropriate the Parish Council will support groups with financial grants and other support to help these community groups to flourish.

Regular events organised by the Council include the Village Green Fun Day in June, Summer and Christmas concerts involving local schools, the annual Remembrance Parade, and Christmas Parties for older residents of the parish.
