Exeter University Catholic Chaplaincy has been around since 1966 and is the centre for Catholic students at the university. As well as having its own chapel, the Chaplaincy has also has a library (from which you are welcome to borrow books), a TV lounge, a large meeting room and its very own bar (the cheapest bar on campus). The extensive gardens are often used for barbecues and parties in the summer. The Chaplaincy also provides student accommodation at a very good rate!

The current chaplain is Fr. Michael Wheaton and his primary role is to encourage, represent, and support the Catholic community in the university. In addition to offering the sacraments, Fr. Michael is available to any student who would like to talk to him on a one-to-one basis. Fr. Michael is an excellent cook and every week during term time helps to prepare the food for lunch after Sunday Mass.

Donna Murphy is Fr. Michael’s assistant. Her role is to ensure the smooth-running of weekly events, organise volunteers for the various ministries in the Chaplaincy, and to provide opportunities for students to grow in their Catholic Faith.

The Chaplaincy is also home to the student-led Catholic Society, better known as Cath Soc. The Cath Soc committee organise weekly events such as quiz nights, film and pizza nights, pub crawls, barbeques, and speakers. In addition to these weekly events, the committee also organise trips further afield.

WEEKLY EVENTS:

SUNDAY 11.30 AM: Mass followed by FREE lunch.

MONDAY 6.30-7PM: A time of prayer with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

TUESDAY 11.30 AM: Mass followed by FREE lunch

THURSDAY: 7.30 PM: Mass followed by Cath Soc social

In addition to these weekly events, the prayer life of the Chaplaincy reflects the liturgical year. Therefore, during lent we have Stations of the Cross every Friday, and during October and May opportunities for praying the rosary as a community.
