Enliven Education 1.64

The following are examples of the kinds of themes that teachers and schools who work with Enliven Education have the opportunity to explore:

- allowing students to work with greater autonomy and to become effective directors of their own learning
- developing a greater sense of purpose by allowing students to do things for real (to be writers who publish books; to be historians who put on exhibitions; to be scientists who make documentaries)
- creating opportunities for students to develop a set of dispositions that are necessary for successful life long learning (questioning and examining assumptions; being unafraid of complexity or uncertainty or of making mistakes; having patience and persistence; having the ability to reappraise …)
- allowing students to experience the value of collaboration, and the wealth of learning and creative thinking that becomes possible when we have dialogue with each other
- giving students opportunities to experience the intrinsic reward of working hard, and of doing something exceptionally well
- redefining the role of the teacher as we learn the value of role modelling what it is to be a good learner
