Elaine Smith - Bramerton Academy 2.03

Elaine Smith, Hon.FLCM, GLCM, LLCM (TD) Dup., ALCM P (Trip.) Dip.LCM, FISM, is a Senior Examiner, Moderator and Trainer for the London College of Music. She first began examining in 1982 and was one of very few women to be on the then panel of examiners. She examines all over the UK, and has also worked in Greece, The Far East, Malta and Cyprus. She also is an adjudicator and trainer for the British Federation of Festivals, which work takes her away considerably. She has taught many current professionals, including Annabel Knight, Head of Recorder at Birmingham Conservatoire, - she has sent students on to study at the Royal College of Music, London College of Music, Trinity College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, Welsh College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Scottish Academy of Music.
Her mission in life has been the education of the young into a love and appreciation of music and also to encourage teachers to branch out into furthering their knowledge and accomplishments, in this day of mediocrity- teaching is of the highest level.
She conducts an orchestra at Framingham Earl High School, and has taught in the past at numerous Norfolk Schools, including "A" Level at Notre Dame High, Norwich City College, Hethersett High School, Mulbarton School etc. and has had students in semi-finals of the BBC's Young Musician of the Year competition.
She examines all over the world - and has given workshops in the Far East, Cyprus, Malta, Greece as well as UK.
She also has worked as accompanist at the City Lit. in London and is frequently used as an accompanist now.
She won the Westminster Prize for the highest Graduate Marks whilst studying for her degree at LCM and holds Diplomas in Piano, Flute, Singing and Recorder.
