Dyslexia Family Support Group (Adults Only)

When? The 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (alternate morning and evening sessions)
Where? The Kenilworth Centre
How much? Free! (but donations are welcomed)

This friendly group is parent-led and normally takes the form of a group discussion, with parents supporting other parents. Some local professionals often give up their time to attend sessions, so parents can often receive expert advice on an informal basis.

All are welcome and there is no need to tell us you’re coming beforehand. Feel free to drop in for part of the session, even if you can't stay for the duration.

The support group is free, but we do ask for a small donation to cover costs. (Please do not stay away if you are in financial difficulties -- we've all been there.)

Address: Abbey End Car Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 1QJ
Parking: £1 for two hours in the adjoining car park

Upcoming dates:
Monday 9th June 2014: 9:30-11 a.m. (morning session)
Monday 23rd June 2014: 8:30-10 p.m. (evening session)
Monday 14th July 2014: 9:30-11 a.m. (morning session)

Other activities

Lending of learning resources

At the support group, we host a cheap lending library of games, fun resources, books and audio books that have proved popular with dyslexic children.

If you have any old items that were useful once but your child has grown out of, we would love to add to the collection. Just bring them along to a support group meeting. We'll give you credits to borrow items which are more appropriate for your child's age and learning level.

Specialist talks

Periodically, we invite experts, such as educational psychologists and occupational therapists, to give free talks for parents on issues relating to dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties.

Holiday workshops

During holiday periods, we offer low-cost learning workshops for parents and children. These workshops typically involve sessions with counsellors, tutors, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, legal experts, etc.

Trips and activities

Parents often organise trips and outings for dyslexic children/teenagers and their families.

Meeting other parents

We encourage parents and carers to meet up outside of the support group. A chat over a cup of coffee can be invaluable!
