The CUPCAKE PLUS story is really one of a mother and daughter story that started many years ago with Brigitte and her mum, the beautiful Glenda, whenever mum baked Brigitte would invariably be found at mums side absorbing her baking skills . Brigitte would later be involved in baking a variety of cakes for all occasions for friends and family her creative side soon expanded to flower arranging to run alongside her cake making, soon she was being asked to deliver whole packages for various events.

Come full circle (20+ years) to present day and the mother daughter story repeats it’s self with Brigitte daughter Tasha joining her mum and expanding the range of cakes they now supply.

CUPCAKE PLUS is not just a family business but also a passionate hobby, to the point, the two girls frequently go head to head to head on producing a new flavour and or design, the kitchen is a great place to be on these occasions, the competitiveness and concentration is palpable.



Discretion prohibits revealing who is in the lead, Tasha with her slightly edgy modern designs or Brigitte more classical take. Tasha has been instrumental in bringing a modern approach to

CUPCAKE PLUS and has introduced online sales and delivery options to an already popular company. CUPCAKE PLUS remains a small family business

ORGINS & PHILOSOPHY

The Cupcakes baked by CUPCAKE PLUS uses the same basic ingredients as standard sized cakes; butter, sugar, eggs and flour, however it is the quality of those ingredients, consistency of mix and the added CUPCAKE PLUS “secret additions” that make our cakes stand out.

Is a small cake designed to serve one person, commonly baked in a small paper or aluminium cups.

The origin of the cupcake is somewhat sketchy but is widely believed to be American. The first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796, when a recipe of notation of “a cake to be baked in small cups” was written in AMERICAN COOKERY by Amelia Simmons.



In the 19th Century there were two different uses for the name Cup Cake or Cupcake. Cakes were often traditionally baked in pottery cups, the term Cupcake remains in use to this day.

The other kind of “Cup Cake” refers to a cake whose ingredients were measured by volume using a standard size cup, instead of being weighed. When the use of volume measurements was firmly established in home kitchens these recipes became known as 1234 cakes or quarter cakes.
