Chipping Norton Local History Society and Museum

Many people don’t realise that here in Chipping Norton we have our own museum housing a large collection of artefacts related to Chipping Norton and its activities.

It is currently situated in the hall above the Co-op, and has extensive archives which support the family history research developed by a member of the History Society. While the Museum receives grants from local authorities, its running relies heavily on self-help. Table top sales, teas and research projects contribute to its upkeep. It is manned by willing volunteers.

The Society meets on the 2nd Monday of the month from September to May, at 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall, West Street, Chipping Norton. Visitors always welcome

Illustrated talks take the listener into many interesting and odd corners of local history: from the crowded, flea-ridden lodging houses of Oxford to the grandeur of Ditchley Park and its owners.
