Budget Wools 1.33

Budget Wools opened its doors in 1963, and has just recently celebrated its golden anniversary. It certainly doesn't seem like 50 years since father and daughter Linda and Ron set up a small shop In Clarence street Cheltenham selling inexpensive yarn by the skein.

In 1978 as trade grew they were joined by younger daughter Caroline and Ron retired, but he still kept a keen interest in the business.

In 1979 we acquired a new plot of land in Clarence Parade, and started the adventure of building a custom made wool shop, one of the first to have wool displayed in fixtures both sides of the shop instead of behind the counter in packets. This enabled the customers to have a proper look and feel of the yarns, which caused great excitement at the time.

Today the shop is run by Caroline who has been joined by her son Richard (handling our website).
Our aim over the years has been to give good advice and help to the customer in a friendly atmosphere, with our girls being more like a family than staff. We have now built up a large stock and selection of beautiful yarns from all over the world as well as the UK.
