Branklyn Gardens is an oasis of peace and colour within walking distance of Perth. Two acres contain rare and unusual plants. Among the most breathtaking are the giant Himalayan poppies, Meconopsis. Throughout spring and summer, the rockery and peat walls are in full bloom. They contain a renowned collection of alpines, Primulas and Rhododendrons. In autumn the woodland, filled with Japanese Maples, puts on a spectacular fiery red display.
The garden is predominantly a collection of plants from China, Tibet, Bhutan and the Himalayas. There is an impressive amount of the original plants collected by the famous plant collectors Ludlow and Sherriff.
