RELAX
A warm welcome awaits you at this magnificent country house nestled in the rolling Co-Down countryside near the historic award winning village of Scarva, Blackwell House is personally run by the owners, Joyce and Steve.
This peaceful country haven has a sumptuous mixture of contemporary furnishings and handsome family antiques intermingling to create a striking interior with a comfortable homely feel, spend a few lazy hours in our cosy sitting room, sink into a comfy sofa with your favourite book, or pop a CD on and unwind in front of a log fire in the winter. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of our wonderful garden from a quiet spot in our Garden Room – wherever you are you will find the perfect place to relax and unwind in Blackwell House.

SLEEP
A comfortable night’s sleep is assured in any of our three opulently decorated super king bedrooms each made up with 600 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen, all with uninterrupted views over the countryside and en-suite bathrooms complete with luxury bathrobes, slippers and fluffy towels. To make your stay with us even more special why not book a massage or add champagne, flowers and chocolates on arrival? We can tailor your stay to suit you; all you have to do is ask.

DINE
We want you to feel at home at our table enjoying fine food and great hospitality using the best ingredients Northern Ireland can offer. Our menus are a mixture of wholesome traditional family recipes handed down through three generations – we still have Great Aunt Maggie’s old hand written cookery books – and food cooked with a modern twist on our darling Aga Stove.
We use free range eggs from our own hens together with award winning meat and vegetables from local farmers to ensure that whatever the occasion we will do our best to provide you with superb menus, with the emphasis on excellent food and very relaxed, private surroundings.

LOCATION
A few minutes take you to Banbridge town and outlet centre, 35 minutes takes you to the heart of Belfast where you can visit the St. Georges covered market or shop to you drop in the new Victoria centre, an hour south and you are in Dublin where you can experience local history including the book of Kells. Travel just over an hour north to Londonderry and Donegal or west to the beautiful Fermanagh lakes, 25 minutes takes you to to the Mourne Mountains sweeping down to the beautiful east coast and the sea where you can go walking and explore the many sights. Blackwell House is a superb central base to explore the North of Ireland.
Snuggling in the rolling countryside bordering County Down and County Armagh if you like peace and quiet, then this is the place. Close to the quaint little village of Scarva which is steeped in Irish history, our guests have the opportunity to explore the Canal towpath which abounds in interesting places and stories guaranteed to fascinate any traveller and offers an ideal place to take a stroll or for the more energetic a 20 mile hike, jog or bicycle ride.
Blackwell house is a place where you can really escape and unwind, where Joyce and Steve will do their very best to provide excellent service, warm hospitality and good food a place where you will want to come back.
