Independent midwife providing antenatal and parentcraft classes for all pregnant women and their birth partners. The course consists of three classes covering the following:
Class 1) PREPARATION FOR LABOUR - A look at what happens to our bodies when we go in to labour and how we can listen to the signals it gives us in order to achieve a positive labour experience. We will cover:
How do I know I am in labour?
What to do/where to go.
How to reduce anxiety and remain calm.
How to be a supportive birth partner.
How to experience a positive labour.
Class 2) CHILDBIRTH Specifically looking at the different birth processes and learning practical techniques such as relaxation and effective breathing. We will cover -
Different birth experiences including waterbirth
The birth environment
A birth plan that is right for you
Class 3) PARENTCRAFT - Workshop style parentcraft looking at the practical aspects of being a new parent. For example:
Skin to skin
Safe sleeping
Bathing and changing your new baby.
Understanding your baby's signals.
Feeding your baby
Each course consists of three, 2 hour evening sessions based at the Wooldale centre for learning (Caroline Chisholm School) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday evenings.
Each course is priced at £120 per couple or £80 for a single place
BirthRight also provide private classes on a one-to-one basis in the comfort of your own home for a set fee of £250 This also includes a postnatal consultation to support you with breastfeeding.
