BIG DISCO will see the world’s largest disco ball, 10.33M in diameter, suspended from a crane in Leeds while more than 20,000 people dance to the same track, at the same time, at parties across Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Festival has commissioned Duke Studios as Artistic Lead for this unique and inspiring event that will see the whole of Yorkshire #bepartofit with the disco to end all discos, hundreds of little discos, and DIY disco kits, that everyone can apply to acquire, delivered in a cardboard box.

In collaboration with Yorkshire Festival and NEWSUBSTANCE, Duke Studios will lead the way in this fantastic project, a huge City Centre party around the Worlds Biggest Disco Ball, coordinating venues across the region to create a platform for their parties, designing/creating and distributing the party cardboard boxes, attracting sponsorship, acting as a hub for all communications and gathering world class music industry professionals to compile a "Top Ten" of uniting party tracks - these tracks will then go on a to a public vote for the Ultimate party tune to be played across the county at the agreed time - to try for a world record.

The whole point of this is not to be told that we are "officially amazing" by the Guinness book of World Records, but to prove that Yorkshire - specifically Leeds - knows how to throw a party and how to celebrate the high calibre music and art that is made in the city every day.

It will be the party of all parties, a day for everyone not just the people in the know. We want it to be for nurseries to nursing homes and everyone in between. We want July 1st 2016 to be remembered as the day Yorkshire threw a party and everyone was invited.
