The Bexhill 5k series was founded alongside Bexhill Runners in 2001 by father and son Lee & Paul Holdaway. With an ethos to bring quality coaching to all abilities and races organizsed by athletes to the town, at a time when the sport of running had little presence in Bexhill. The 5km series aimed to provide a midweek; friendly, fast and professional race for beginners and serious athletes, to assist every runners progression in their running.

Amongst many changes within the sport and local clubs over the years the passion to provide these races is still going strong, and now the 5k series is set up on behalf of the local Charity ‘Raising Money for Good causes’. Lee Holdaway founded this new charity in 2015 to keep giving back to the sport with the mission statement

“We raise money primarily through our Race Series and the Poppy Half Marathon. Providing grants to local charities enables us to advance the education of under 25's, by developing mental, physical and moral capabilities”

Due to the support of volunteers, www.UKSportsTiming.co.uk proving FREE chip timing service and www.PHTriRun.co.uk coaching providing FREE race management and organisation. 100% of the entry fee after race costs such as medals, race numbers, council permits and medical cover goes to the Charity.

Each year cash prizes of £50, £30 and £15 are awarded for the top 3 male and female runners. New in 2016 is a league table for the 3 x 5k races, as well as introducing a new 1 Mile Youth race league over May, June and July. Including chip timing for the first time, creating an accurate race environment those youngsters who want to be competitive. The 500m FUN RUN stays for the really little ones to enjoy exercise and walk / run with their parents and siblings.

We look forward to seeing you all on May 25th, June 29th, and July 27th (Sussex Grand Prix Event) and thank you for your support over the last 15 years of racing!

Lee Holdaway.
