Auckland Castle 4.56

Auckland Castle is currently closed to daily visits to allow for conservation and representation work. Our vision is to transform the 900-year-old home of the Durham Prince Bishops into a world-class art, faith and heritage destination.

The #MiningArt Gallery launched in Bishop Auckland Market Place on 21 October 2017, and our Welcome Building will open in 2018 along with the restored Castle.

For now you can still enjoy the formal gardens, Deer Park and our seasonal events programme.
