I would like to share with you a story of an At Home Fitness Wolverhampton client whose journey is a familiar one and show’s that with hard work and dedication you can completely change your life.

Malaika first contacted me in July explaining that she’d put on 3 stone over a couple of years and that she had 9 weeks to lose it for her sister’s wedding. By her own admission she stated that she “hated exercise” as she saw it as being “a lot of hard work”.

At our first meeting I took into consideration all of Malaika’s requests and devised suitable goals. I explained to her what we would be doing in the sessions and how this would benefit her not only short term but for the rest of her life. I also had the hard task of convincing her that 1 to 2lbs a week was our target and that if she worked hard she could achieve a stone and half weight loss by the wedding. This figure wasn’t desirable at first but she could see that actually getting that weight loss more slowly would give her a much higher chance of keeping it off in the long run. I showed her a replica of 1lb of body fat; she agreed that 20 of these would be an awesome accomplishment.

The other task I was set with was not only writing sessions that would be effective and fun whilst I was with her but also devising a schedule that she could do without equipment, in her own home, that wasn’t boring and would help her to achieve her goals. I find that variety works best with my At Home Fitness Wolverhampton clients. I was hoping that I could make Malaika see that exercise and healthy living isn’t a quick fix but a lifestyle change.

Three months have passed now. Malaika’s on her way to losing two stone, she will be at her target weight just after Christmas. She has averaged 2lbs a week every week since we started.

She trains 4 times a week most weeks and eats regularly and healthily. Her resting heart rate has lowered and through our fitness tests we can see that her upper body and core strength have dramatically improved.

The most important thing is that she is happy and is enjoying exercise. She has also found that being fitter and healthier has brought with it added bonuses:
