Aquatread Leeds

A new, high performance training centre run by Olympic medalists, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, together with Head Coach, Rhys Davey.

This brand new facility will provide a fantastic service to people – from those looking for rehabilitation after injury; to competitive swimmers wanting video analysis of their swimming technique. Apart from the ability to swim against the ‘fast flow’ regulated current to carry out such analysis and gain help to improve swimming strokes, the underwater treadmill will also provide the opportunity to run with minimal impact on joints. The water gives buoyancy and resistance which gives an offload on the body, while still allowing the participant to remain active.

Along with the ability to analyse strokes, the state-of-the-art underwater camera can be used to aid understanding of how to regain full fitness. Immediate feedback can be given for this, and on any stroke flaws, with strategies to correct and improve. Along with the expertise of Head Coach, Rhys Davey, this can all result in improved recovery and/or performance.

Rhys Davey, who will be working alongside Alistair and Jonny as Head Coach, is a previous European Gold Medalist and Great Britain triathlete, with years of experience competing in swimming and triathlon that belies his years. Rhys has, for the last 5 years, been one of the main training partners of Alistair and Jonny Brownlee. He has a BSc in Sports Science and is a qualified triathlon coach, a masseur, as well as having swimming teaching qualifications. He has an excellent understanding of the world of swimming and triathlon, from helping beginners progress, to training with the world’s elite.
AquatreadLeeds will be able to provide you with whatever you need in this area of sport – whether you are a runner or cyclist keen to gain the swimming skills necessary to enter a first triathlon; a runner recovering from an injury; or a swimmer looking how to gain that advantage over competitors through improved stroke technique. And anything inbetween.

Give us a go – AquatreadLeeds – you won’t be disappointed.
