The Corpus Christi Catholic Church ( 陽明天主堂 ) is located No. 2, Huagang Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City, 111. We are located on the beautiful face of a Yangmingshan valley, overseeing the spectacular Taipei city. Our church is vastly equipped with place prayer. This is a large facility containing four buildings, including a chapel rich with history and plenty of places around the grounds for worship.

The Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord was founded in 1931. On September 3, 1926 in Beijing, Archbishop Costantini started his trip for Rome, taking six newly elected bishop candidates to be consecrated by Pope Pius XI. During the voyage, he wrote the first draft of CDD’s Constitutions, and had Chao Hue Yi and Sung Te Cheng (two bishops to be) examine it. Immediately after the Holy See’s approval on January 4, 1927, construction of a covenant started, and training and cultivation of seminarians followed. March 31, 1931 Apostolic Vicar of Hsuanhua Diocese Bishop Cheng gave permission, which according to Canon Law articles 492 and 497 was given officially in a written form, of the establishment of the new religious community in his diocese. The very day was dedicated to our Lord and was regarded as CDD’s birthday. Subsequently, vocations increased tremendously.

On Jan. 25, 1948, due to the political turmoil in China, the Congregation decided that some priests and seminarians should leave China. This decision was the turning point in the history of the community. First it turned out an excellent opportunity to do mission work among overseas Chinese, which is one of the listed objectives in CDD’s Constitutions. Second it enriched the contents of formation and experiences of Evangelization and hence their religious life became multilateral. Jan. 1, 1981 CCD was divided into three provinces; namely, Indonesia Province, Chinese Province and Malaysia Province.

Imagining of our Founder on the boat writing CDD´s Constitution, I seem to have seen him enthusiastically wishing the best of the expected baby - CDD. I earnestly pray God bless each of them and for successful Evangelization among God’s beloved Chinese people.
