The Reformation Translation Fellowship began with the vision of Dr. Samuel E. Boyle and Dr. Charles H. Chao in 1949 in Guangzhou. They began with translation work on Gresham Machen’s “Christianity and Liberalism”. To raise financial support for their work, Dr. J.G. Vos formed the US RTF, a US non-profit organization. In 1968 RTF moved to Taipei and in 1999 Dr. Jonathan Chao began to oversee the work of RTF with the help of CMI and under the direction of the U.S. board. In September 2002 we registered RTF as the “RTF Publishing Company (RTFPC)” in Taiwan. Dr. Andrew McCafferty official took over RTFPC as the director in June 2007. We continue to translate solid Reformed literature for the Chinese Church to build up its biblical and theological foundation. Since 1949, RTFPC has published more than 140 titles of books and booklets, most of them translated by Dr. Chao. There are now over 80 titles of books in current circulation, several of which have already gone through 2nd or 3rd editions. Among Chinese Christians, RTFPC is known as the main publisher of Chinese Reformed literature. RTFPC books are used by many Chinese seminaries and are widely read in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Asia and the U.S.
