GENERAL DIRECTORATE FOR GIRL’S TECHNICAL OF SABANCI MATURITY INSTITUTE

Sabanci Maturity Institute was built as an outbuilding of Beylerbeyi Palace, and used as the additional building of the brass band of the palace. With the establishment of the Turkish Republic, this building was used as Beylerbeyi Primary School from 1923 until 1985.
Due to the danger of slipping over the sea, in 1985 the building was reconstructed according to its first architectural style by Sabanci Foundation (VAKSA) with the support of Mr. Sakip SABANCI.
In 1987 the building was transferred to the Ministry of Education and between the 1988-1989 academic years the building was assigned for general use of Sabanci Maturity Institution.
General Directorate For Girl’s Technical of Sabancı Maturity Institute is not only a research centre which does the researches, improves, reserves and transfers them to the future generations; but also it is a 2 years non-formal education institute which gives the professional education on traditional Turkish clothes and handicrafts to the people who want to have a profession in the areas of required technology.

In the Department of Practical Girl’s Art School:
Department of Child Development and Education: (Department of early child education etc. Professional courses, hobby courses in various topics (oil painting, ceramics, hand and machine embroideries, lace, etc...) are provided with training.

In our İnstitute, there are production ateliers that revolve with working capital. In these ateliers; private clothes sewing, collective clothes sewing, hand and machine embroidery, decorative handcrafts, ceramic, special orders related to the original designs and image and gift products have been manufacturing.
Our İnstitute has prepared artistic clothing creations, exhibited products with domestic and abroad in various activities (fairs, Turkish week, openings, exhibitions, etc...), fashion shows and exhibitions are participating and our country’s cultural values promote the cultural contribution to our offers.
