The Tots’ Classroom offers early childhood development courses. The purpose of these courses is to enrich a child’s ability to reach developmental milestones. This is done through providing an environment conducive to fun-based learning.

The Tot’s Classroom (LLP) proposes a suite of enrichment courses for early-learner students who are three to six years old. These courses aim to enhance and encourage early-learners to develop a strong foundation of learning skills. This gives them a head start when they enter the formal schooling system.

Each course is completed over three years. Each year comprises of four terms. Each term comprises of a series of units/modules with scaffolded outcomes. These outcomes are keyed to the early-learner’s developmental milestones. Each unit/module comprises eighteen lessons conducted over nine weeks.

Our courses are designed to enrich the academic potential of pre-school children. The basis enrichment lies in encouraging the students’ curiosity and interest in their surroundings. The activities enhance early-learners’ ability to engage with the people and events they encounter. The activities in our courses seek to supplement the Ministry’s holistic early-childhood learning curriculum. The courses we are seeking approval for seek to enhance early-learners’ cognitive ability, physical development, social engagement, and their ability to communicate. Each course is designed to focus on one of these areas.

We have built the activities in each course to reflect the mantra, “Being, Belonging, Becoming”. These activities seek to enrich a child’s sense of being. The child who feels that they belong is more receptive to learning, this improves their learning skills. In turn, this helps to enhance the child’s confidence in learning. The special part of our courses is that enrichment and interaction activities are shaped through shared learning with instructors and adult family members. We not only seek to enrich a child’s abilities, but to help family members or carers become more involved in the early-learner’s journey of discovery.

We seek to create a learning environment that uses “guided focused fun”. This is where the child learns through play, directed interaction and use of varied stimuli and materials. The “why” and “how” are explained as the child experiences the “what” of a lesson.

These enrichment courses draw upon Bloom’s Taxonomy of cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning. This will cover visual, tactile and auditory learning styles. We seek the Ministry’s approval to register these courses of study.
