There are two different departments in PCS which provides help and support to different groups of beneficiaries.
• Lifeblood Centre
• Educational Foundation
Lifeblood Centre
Lifeblood Centre started with the purpose of helping Thalassaemia and Cancer patients.
When patients are diagnosed with cancer, they usually go through treatment processes which eventually hinder them from continuing their jobs. They will then have to pay medical bills for the treatments. Cancer is not incurable, but it is a long and slow process which requires social and financial support to the patients and their families.
This service started with the hope of easing the financial burden of these patients and their immediate families. Lifeblood Centre try to fills in the ‘gaps’ of the services currently provided by other charity/social organisation in the community. Our objective is to allow our beneficiaries and their families to continue the battle during this difficult journey with lesser burdens by offering two main subsidy programmes
Transport Subsidy
The Lifeblood Centre offers a full/partial subsidy for taxi trips or ambulance services between the hospital and home for recurring treatments and medical appointments. This benefits beneficiaries who experiences limited mobility, debilitating complications or side effects of treatment or the illness itself, or who are advised by their doctor to avoid public transport.
Medical Subsidies
Medical consumables required for the treatment or maintenance of illness especially cancer-related can be costly, difficult to obtain and required regularly. We subsidise consumables such as needles and syringes for chelation, port expenses, diapers, milk feeds, wound care consumables, and stoma consumables among others. Rental of medical equipment are also subsidised partially or fully.
Educational Foundation (EF)
The sole purpose of EF is to provide services to children and youths, especially from low-income families. We believe that every child deserves a chance to develop to his or her full potential, regardless of their family situation/status.
EF is in partnership with a centre which provides after school care services under the arms of Promisedland Community Services. The after school care focuses on character development of children and youths. It is our desire to see that children and youths are able to grow up with hope and promises in their lives, gradually becoming law-abiding and socially responsible individuals in the society. Our services includes:
• Fully/partially subsidised after school care
• One on one mentorship programme to develop the child on a holistic approach
• Fully/partially subsidised tuition programme
• Fully/partially subsidised self- improvement programme
• Fully/partially subsidised excursion/outings
• Youth Football Programme
• Family bonding activities
