Details

NTU Lifeguard Corps is a vibrant club consisting of members who are certified lifeguards (Bronze Medallion Certification).

The Club Committee organises the largest annual swimming event in the university (Swimfest) and conducts bi-annual basic and advanced* lifesaving courses at subsidised rates for students.

Similar to other sports which participates in inter-varsity (IVP) competitions, lifeguards also take part in the annual National Life Saving Championships. This is a competition that is well represented by all local universities, polytechnics, some junior colleges and lifesavers from external organisations. The objectives of the competition are to "To provide a platform for these sportsmen and sportswomen to form values of spirits of friendship and equitable competition". (Quoted from Singapore Life Saving Society).

Finally lifeguards of the club oversee the safety for all still-waters and open-waters events conducted by NTU student organisations.

Club Information

Lifesaving is a multi-disciplinary sport which combines lifesaving skills and athletic abilities. Our primary role is to provide lifeguards for school activities.

Course

Competition

•Competitive lifesaving utilises the skills learnt for humanitarian purposes and are applied in a competitive environment. Competitions are held annually with the purpose of honing lifesaving skills and maintaining good physical fitness of our lifeguards.

Club Motto

"The finest thing a man can do is to save the life of another human being"
