The theme for RYC 2014 (18 July 2014) is The Price of Inequality.
Societies across the world are experiencing rising levels of economic and social inequality. We are already beginning to see some effects of such imbalances in movements such as Occupy Wall Street. Is inequality a “ticking social time-bomb” as some have characterised it? Is inequality a benign phenomenon? Is it possible to have too much or too little inequality? How should we respond to these socio-economic changes? What possible solutions are there? Would the proposed “medicine” be worse than the “disease”? These are some of the questions we will be exploring in this year’s Conference. Participants will hear from experts in the Social Sciences such as Economics and Politics.
