Inspired by his mother Bibik Koh Nya Chit's culinary skills, Bob Seah established Peranakan Inn in 1985 and made home-cooked Nonya food easily available to all. A pioneer in the Peranakan food community, Bob introduced many traditional dishes such as Ayam Buah Keluak, Bakwang Kepiting and Babi Poteh from his kitchen to his diners and helped preserve the unique Peranakan food culture and heritage. Bob went on to establish award-winning House of Peranakan Cuisine at the former Negara Hotel which has been featured in The New York Times, Asian Wall Street Journal and The Straits Times. House of Peranakan Cuisine has moved to 103 Frankel Avenue and Peranakan Inn remains at the iconic Peranakan shophouse and restaurant at 210 East Coast Road in Katong.
