If you’re like me, one of the biggest concerns you have during your lactating months is trying to figure out if you are producing enough milk to meet the demands of your growing baby. It can be frustrating sometimes trying to maintain or establish a good milk supply, especially if you notice a sudden drop. There are certain herbs that can help you out along the way and many of these are available over the counter such as Fenugreek, blessed thistle, More Milk Plus or Goats Rue. However, these are rather strong herbs that may cause a significant change in production and if not taken correctly can cause an upset stomach. I do strongly suggest you discuss your situation with a trained Lactation Consultant before venturing out on your own to begin taking any herb or medication to stimulate milk production.

Another (tastier!) option is Lactation Cookies, which work great and taste amazing. Who doesn’t love freshly baked delicious gooey cookies? And no they don’t contain breast milk! (husbands can relax)… I discovered lactation cookies during my own breastfeeding journey and created these recipes using these 3 main ingredients: rolled oats, brewer’s yeast and flax seed. These ingredients are what make these cookies magical in stimulating milk production.
