No wonder the number of good, traditional hawkers in Singapore is dwindling.

But it's not all doom and gloom for Singapore's culinary heritage. We're Food Culture Academy (FCA), and we're here to help!

Here's a little bit about us. FCA is made up of 3 key parts:

1. Mentors –– The older generations of hawkers, cooks and chefs who have helped defined Singapore's culinary culture.
2. Juniors –– We're not looking for any prior cooking nor culinary experience. All you need is an open mind and a great attitude.
3. Kitchens –– Spaces where our mentors and juniors can work in.

Our ambition at Food Culture Academy (FCA) is to help connect past generations of chefs, cooks and hawkers with the next generation of juniors. Why? Because nothing else defines a nation's culture like food does and we not only want to protect these traditions and recipes, but also have them passed down to the future generations.

And, boy, do we have some eager budding cooks – some XXX juniors have already signed up to be a part of FCA and are waiting for mentors to come train them.

So do you know someone with a great traditional recipe who is willing to impart his knowledge, skills and craft? Your neighbour's apom. The uncle who always cooks his giant pot of lor mee for reunion dinner. Or that makcik from the office who passes you some of her sambal chilli?

Tell us! And we'll help bridge them with the next generation of budding cooks!
