Century Square is a 6-storey shopping mall in Tampines, Singapore. It is located near Tampines MRT Station and next to Tampines Mall. Opened in 1995, Century Square underwent expansion in 2005. Century Square is managed by AsiaMalls Management Pte Ltd.The mall is currently closed for major renovations as of 1 September 2017, and will reopen in 3Q 2018. During this period, the car park will remain open.HistoryDeveloped by First Capital Corporation Ltd, Century Square was opened in July 1995 with 63 tenants. It was the first major shopping mall in Tampines. The mall featured a K-MART department store, a privately run Century Cineplex managed by Shaw Theatres, Food Junction, SAFE Superstore, and a Shop N Save supermarket.In 2004, the mall was sold to ARMF Pte Ltd.Under new management, Century Square underwent a minor renovation in 2008. In 2007, Metro closed its doors and was replaced by BHG and Best Denki. Many new stores and brands were added along with a refreshed tenant mix by taking up a portion of Metro's former premises, thus becoming a ladies focused mall. However, popular favourites like the cinema was kept the same. The cinema hosts larger-than-normal seats which are unique to the mall.RenovationsIn August 2017, Asiamalls Management announced a S$60 million upgrade to the mall. The revamped Century Square will feature a new interior layout, a new exterior facade, new washrooms, new nursing rooms and upgraded elevators and escalators. It will have 218 speciality shops, up from the current 128, due to in part BHG leaving the mall. New tenants include a 6-screen Filmgarde Cineplex with an estimated 1000 seating capacity, supermarket chain Mahota Market, 24 hour gym Gymmboxx, restaurants Eighteen Chefs and Hai Di Lao Hot Pot and educational tenants such as childcare centre operator The Orange Academy and tuition centre operator The Learning Lab. An e-library in collaboration with the National Library Board will also anchor a space at Level 4. Returning tenants include Food Junction and Virtualand (Star Factory). Upon its reopening in 3Q 2018, the mall will offer free Wi-Fi, mobile charging stations and a gantry-less carpark. A roof top garden will be added at Level 5, along with a floor dedicated to families and children, which will incorporate an education hub.
