BUKIT VIEW SECONDARY SCHOOL- THE PLACE TO BE
The school aims to provide a vibrant, caring and nurturing learning environment to develop students holistically and stretch their potential. It strives to nurture students of strong and robust character to be confident and world-ready individuals, concerned citizens who are able to contribute actively and meaningfully to the nation and society at large.

BVSS prides itself as a school that adds value to all. The school’s student-centric, values-driven education, with a focus on student centred teaching and learning, and holistic all round student development, supported by committed staff, helps to prepare pupils for the 21st century.

STEM EDUCATION TALENT DEVELOPMENT
Junior OUtstanding Leaders in Energy for Sustainability (JOULES) Programme
The BVSS-designed Junior OUtstanding Leaders in Energy for Sustainability (JOULES) Programme aims to inculcate students with the knowledge and experience in the area of environment and sustainable energy as well as emphasizing the development of environmental student leadership. It is envisaged that after going through the JOULES programme, students will be keen to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in their higher education, especially in the area of environment and sustainable energy, and thereby contribute to Singapore and the world.

JOULES Scholarship
The school offers the JOULES Seedling scholarship for incoming Secondary 1 students who have:
1) obtained excellent results in Science,
2) selected BVSS as 1st choice of school
3) show keen interest in environment and sustainable energy

CULTIVATING THE JOY OF LEARNING
ICT Tools and Technologies for Deep Learning
To facilitate ICT-enriched learning, the school is equipped with Computer Labs and classes are wired up with internet access, and students have access to laptops, iPads and teachers explore ICT affordances to nurture Self Directed Learning and Collaborative Learning, through the various online learning portals. The school will be allocating Chromebooks for every Secondary 1 learner to allow for 1-to-1 computing device enabled learning. This is aligned to the school's efforts in developing students who are self-directed and engaged learners.

Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in Clean Energy and Environmental Technology
As part of the JOULES programme, BVSS’ ALP is in the area of Clean Energy and Environmental Technology. This programme is a multidisciplinary study of the environment. Its authentic learning based curriculum aims to foster the application of critical and inventive thinking skills, and knowledge connection across subject disciplines, hence, stretching students' imagination in solving real-world problems.

The Tier 1 programme involves all students. The Secondary One students are taught about the energy crisis and create a Solar Car while the Secondary 2 students learn the issue of water pollution and are programming a water-sensing robot.

The Tier 2 programme is targeted at students who display a strong interest in pursuing their passion at a deeper level. In-house programmes such as Responsibility to Society Forum and external programmes such as STEP-NUS Sunburst Environment Programme will be catered to these students. The Thinking HATs (High Achieving Talents in Science) programme is a Science Talent Management Programme for the high achieving students in the Express Stream.

We offer other talent development programmes to stretch our high ability students:
1. Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad,
2. Singapore Junior Chemistry Olympiad,
3. Singapore Junior Biology Olympiad,
4. Singapore Math Olympiad

Coding and Computational Thinking Infused (CacTus) Curriculum
As part of STEM education, students transfer the coding and computational thinking skills learnt to other disciplines subjects ranging from Computing, Math, Science, Design and Technology, and Citizenship and Character Education. Through the curriculum, students develop computational thinking, problem-solving and logical thinking skills to apply the knowledge learnt in real-life situations.
BUILDING CHARACTER AND ENTREPRENEURIAL DARE

BVSS places great importance in preparing students for the world by focusing on character development, underpinned by values, with emphasis on Social-Emotional Learning Competencies.

The school weaves in self-discovery by our students and learning values through real-life activities when designing its Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) curriculum eg learning journeys to enhance cross-cultural literacy and Sports and Outdoor Education programmes.

Learning for Life Programme (LLP)- Learning the Arts, Living the Values
The school’s LLP involves explicit learning of values, and socio and emotional (SE) competencies in our students through Drama. Drama, as a pedagogical tool, is powerful because the use and balance of thought and feeling make learning enjoyable, exciting and relevant for the students. The content is taught to all lower secondary students through Literature and Social Studies via a formal curriculum. Students are able to learn through other perspectives and act as one would in the imagined situation during dramatization.
