This pavilion reflects a symbiosis between the traditional and modern art of architecture and engineering.

To create the form and expression of this pavilion, inspiration was drawn from the Swedish and Scandinavian tradition of working with and utilizing nature. In Sweden the amount of recesses of the forest has been controlled since the beginning of the 20th century, in order to make sure that the wood supply and the nature stays rich and full. This has led to wood becoming the most widely used construction material in the country.

Working with wood and the ways of nature led to the form and function of spines and joints. The pavilion consists of a network of frames that twist and turn. This works as the spine of the construction. Just like nature is constantly changing, the expression of the pavilion is variable thanks to a joint-connection of the louvres between the frames. All of this was realized with digital and parametric-algoritmic design tools.

This is not only a symbolic piece of architecture, but also an attempt to highlight the synergy between the role of the architect and the role of the engineer.
