IEEE Sweden Social Implications of Technology Chapter 2.59

The Sweden Chapter of the Social Implications of Technology (SSIT-Swe) is established on _. Number of members is about 50 in Sweden. At present, technical meetings are held once every quarterly in Stockholm, Sweden.

The IEEE SSIT Sweden Chapter seeks to investigate how progress in technologies can be nurtured and cultivated for the benefit of society. Social impacts of these advancements have to be understood, controlled and governed in order to promote a fair development across the world. User centric approaches need to ensure that the technological evolution brings effective and positive benefits to the larger portion of humans. Under this perspective, standardization and regulatory aspects are key elements to assure a proper exploitation of the innovative technologies in a globalized manner.

The Sweden region is the home of some of the world’s most technologically sophisticated engineering, and is also a region of social, economic and environmental diversity, facing the challenges of both under-development and over-development. What can and should engineers and other technologists be doing to meet these challenges? “IEEE-SSIT Sweden Chapter” will bring together engineers, computer scientists, technologists, academics, educators, researchers and practitioners from all over the Sweden to discuss and exchange experience, case studies, theories, designs, work-in-progress, and ideas regarding the social implications of technology in the IEEE Sweden Section.
