For years now, the Internet has been bringing us closer together, making the world a bigger place to be by shrinking it down to a size that fits on our cell phone screens. If this blows your mind, that’s good: you’re paying attention. Think back fifteen years, to a time before Facebook meant anything, to a time before Google even meant all that much. Browsing the Internet was akin to flipping through a very large, strange book. The components were there, but it lacked the features that now define its essence: the interconnectivity, the convenience, the real-world applications. That last especially: Amazon was just on its way to the top, and people were starting to come around to the idea of doing their shopping online.
Now, here we are in 2016, and the Internet is another one of those things to which we’ve become accustomed. It’s a part of our lives. We use it to stay in touch with people, to buy things, to find things, to learn things, to teach things. Put simply, we use it for everything. There is one area, however, where the Internet has been lagging sadly behind, and that’s food. Books were an easy enough transition. It comes in a cardboard box, maybe with some bubblewrap or a piece of packing paper. Yes, very easy. But food is something different entirely. It has to be kept warm, or sometimes it has to be kept cold. It doesn’t last very long either. Who wants their pizza shipped from a fulfillment center in Los Angeles all the way to their apartment in Brooklyn? Nobody who likes being healthy, that’s for sure.
With all of this in mind, we are proud to introduce you to Foodieya, the location-based food app that’s bringing all of the tastiest treats to the Internet. The way it works is this: users can list food items for sale or purchase items that other users have listed. To browse, you just type in what you want, and results will populate based on the listings that are close to your current location. Additionally, users could list the thing that they want, and other users can agree to make that thing for a set price. The key here is convenience: we want to do for food what Amazon did for books and what Facebook did for keeping tabs on all your distant relatives.
Made too much of something? Put the leftovers up on . This is a great way to earn money on the side, and at the same time, we’ll be providing people a means to obtain locally sourced food products. Foodieya will be available on both iOS and Android, making this app widely accessible, and like anything of this sort, the more people who get involved the better off everyone will be. You can register an account or log in with Facebook or Google for quick access. Remember: the key here is convenience.
