Sushi has been a delicacy present in almost every metropolitan city. It bears cultural heritage as well as a long history.


The delicate and perfectly-rolled sushi was first introduced in the 7th century. It is originally Chinese and was later adopted into the Japanese cuisine. It was initially used as a means of preservation and fermentation of the fish, where only the fish got consumed and the rice was discarded. With famine and drought, the rice eventually became an essential part of the consumed meal.


In addition to the introduction of machines, enabling the mass production of sushi, the wake of the increased health consciousness in the 70’s and 80’s has contributed to the massive popularity of Sushi restaurants around the world.
