Details

Manarat Al Riyadh School is a private school approved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Education and is part of a well-established chain which has International sections in Jeddah, Al-Ahsa, Al-Medina and Al-Khobar.

The International section was established more than twenty seven years ago to provide quality education in English for non-Arabic speaking students. Islamic ideals and standards are of paramount importance in our school. Boys and girls are educated separately and are taught exclusively by teachers of their own gender. The Holy Quran, Arabic language and Islamic Studies have always had a prominent place in the school curriculum from its inception.

Students studying at Manarat Al Riyadh enjoy a rich mixture of traditional culture and modern technology.

Curriculum

The curriculum is based on a combination of the British and American systems.

At the Primary Level and first two years of Intermediary (Grades 1 to 8), we follow an American curriculum. From 2013-14, we are replacing the separate teaching of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with General Science, with the introduction of interactive science material to support.

At the senior level, we offer a choice between American and UK-based curricula with preparation for external assessments.

For the UK-based stream, IGCSE and A level (Advanced Level) courses form the main core of the curriculum at the Secondary Level (Grades 9 to 12). In addition to the above subjects, business related subjects such as Economics, Business Studies, and Accounting are delivered.

English at IGCSE (grades 9 and 10) is offered as either English as a first language and English Literature or English as a second language.

The British stream students study the IGCSE and A Level courses over a period of four years, while the American stream embarks upon a four-year High School Diploma, during the course of which they sit SAT and SAT II exams in grades 11 and 12 respectively.

Manarat Al Riyadh enjoys a hard-earned and well-deserved reputation for high academic standards. The school is a recognized examination center by both the University of Cambridge and the University of London examining boards for IGCSE and A Levels. Manarat Al Riyadh School is acknowledged by the British Council as being among the most successful in Saudi Arabia at achieving consistently the best IGCSE and A Level examination results.

For the American stream, Manarat Al Riyadh is recognized by the College Board as an official testing site for PSSS (Preliminary SAT Scoring Service), PSAT (Preliminary SAT), SAT, ACT(American College Testing) and AP(Advanced Placement) tests.
