TAV Airports signed a contract with GACA, the Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia, together with Al Rajhi and Saudi Oger for the build-operate-transfer project of the Madinah Airport, the first airport privatization of Saudi Arabia. The Consortium, which started to operate Madinah Airport in June 30th, 2012, completed the construction of a state-of-the-art passenger terminal in February 2015. Within the scope of the project, the new passenger terminal came into service in April 2015. The Consortium has the operation rights of Madinah Airport for 25 years. Madinah Airport has become the first Leadership in Environmental Friendly Design (LEED) certificated building given by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) in the MENA region. The airport hit to the top of Routes Marketing Awards in the category of airports welcoming 4 to 20 million passengers in the Middle East and North Africa Regions.
