Kingdom Tower (برج المملكة Burj al Mamlakah) previously known as Mile-High Tower, is a skyscraper currently under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at a preliminary cost of SR4.6 billion (US$1.23 billion).It will be the centerpiece and first phase of a SR75 billion (US$20 billion) development known as Kingdom City that will be located along the Red Sea on the north side of Jeddah. If completed as planned, the tower will reach unprecedented heights, becoming the tallest building in the world, as well as the first structure to reach the one-kilometer-high mark.

Currently under construction at the heart of The Kingdom City, the iconic Kingdom Tower will rise to a height of more than 1000 meters to become the tallest tower in the world. Scheduled for completion in 2018, the Kingdom Tower will consist of 170 stories, with seven stories allocated for the five-star Four Seasons Hotel, offering 200 rooms and121 luxury serviced apartments, and seven stories for offices. The Tower will also have 61 stories that include 318 housing units of various types amenities, gyms, spas, cafes and restaurants, two sky lobbies and world’s highest observation decks, located on the top floors 644 meter high enabling visitors to view the city of Jeddah from the sky.

The Kingdom City is being developed on an area of more than 5.3 million sqm in the Obhor district north of Jeddah. Planned and designed to greatly enhance Jeddah’s global status as a world class business, commercial, educational, medical, tourism, leisure and entertainment hub, the mega project will significantly contribute to the diversification and sustainable growth of Saudi Arabia’s economy, ensuring a prosperous future for generations of young Saudis by creating a diversity of employment opportunities and helping to meet the ever growing demand for housing.
