حين يذكر اسم كارفور في أية بقعة من بقاع الأرض, يتبادر فورا إلى ذهن السامع المعنى الحقيقي والمتميز لمتاجر التجزئة السوبرماركت والهايبرماركت الفرنسية الراقية, وتتركب سريعا في مخيلته الصورة المحببة المشرقة, التي استطاع كارفور وعلى مدى سنوات طويلة, أن يعكس من خلالها أرقى معاني الجودة, والتنوع, والمساحات الرحبة, والأسعار المنافسة, ومتعة التسوق في آن معا, وبنجاح مستمر منقطع النظير.

قد تم افتتاح أول متجر لكارفور في شهر يونيو من عام 1957م في ضواحي إنسي الفرنسية, وهو يعتبر أصغر فرع من فروع كارفور التي تقارب الأربعة عشرة آلاف وخمسمئة متجر حول العالم حالياً, حيث يفتح كارفور واحد كل أسبوع على مستوى العالم. ويتجاوز عدد موظفيه الأربع مائة وتسعين ألف موظف. وفي العام 1992, تأسست مجموعة شركات ماجد الفطيم برأسمال خليجي مائة في المائة, لتثبت وجودها سريعا في منطقة الخليج العربي, كأكبر وأنجح مجموعة تجارية في الشرق الأوسط, وقد تم توقيع اتفاقية شراكة بين المجموعة وبين "كارفور" فرنسا لتأسيس شركة (ماف هايبرماركتس) لتكون صاحبة حق الامتياز للعلامة التجارية "كارفور" في الشرق الأوسط وبعض الدول الأخرى, وهي أول من أدرج وطوّر مفهوم الهايبرماركت في المنطقة, وقد تم في السعودية تأسيس الشركة السعودية للمتاجر الشاملة "كارفور" عام 2004م, لتصبح من أقوى الشركات وأكثرها تميزا في المجموعة, وتتبع الشركة خططا سنوية مدروسة للتوسع, حيث افتتحت أكثر من عشرة فروع لها حتى الآن, تتوزع في جميع المدن الرئيسية في المملكة, ولـ "كارفور" أيضا العديد من الفروع في الإمارات العربية المتحدة, والكويت, والبحرين, وقطر, وعمان, ومصر, والأردن, وسوريا, ويعد كارفور أكبر سلسلة لمتاجر التجزئة في العالم حاليا, حيث يستقبل أكثر من 107 مليون زائر سنويا في جميع أرجاء الدنيا


When Carrefour is mentioned any where on earth, it instantly portrays the real meaning of the luxurious French retail supermarkets and hypermarkets, and the perfect lovely picture that Carrefour was able to show along several long years through the concepts of the best quality, diversity, open spaces, good prices and the pleasure of shopping at the same time, and the success that can’t be found anywhere else.


The first branch of Carrefour was opened in the June of 1957 in the suburbs of Annecey, France, which is now the smallest branch among the other 14,500 branches worldwide that has more than 490,000 employees, where one new store opens every week across the world. In 1992, Majid Al Futtaim Group of companies was founded with a 100% UAE capital, and then it soon proved it self in the Arabian Gulf region as the largest and most successful business group in the middle east. An agreement was made between the Group and Carrefour France to found the MAF Hypermarkets Company, to become the group with the premier trade mark of Carrefour in the Middle East region and other countries. Moreover, it was the first to introduce and develop the Hypermarket concept into the region. In Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Hypermarkets Company “Carrefour” was founded in 2004 to become one of the largest and most unique company in the group; the company follows yearly researched plans to enlarge its periphery, as it opened more than ten branches up till now, that are found in all main cities in the kingdom. Carrefour also has several branches in UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria; and it is the largest chain of retail stores in the world, it hosts more than 107 million customers every year worldwide.
