In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

It takes a spark of genius or insanity to change the world, to make it a better place, yet two questions remain unanswered: how does it all start and who are the agents of change?

Throughout history, great ideas gave birth to even greater movements, creating a ripple effect. However, these ideas were never the product of colossal happenings, they were small, determined seeds that fought their way up, regardless of the adversities they have encountered.

Monumental ideas that change the world are like Sequoia seeds, which even though they are among the smallest in the world, when they blossom, they become tall and robust.

For this year’s eagerly anticipated TEDxTarguMures conference, our team has set its heart on finding the ‘Seeds of Change’ in our community, the unsung leaders of our time, the people who despite their humble beginnings have developed themselves into the invisible pillars of our society, the people who are changing the world around us one seed at a time.

The ‘Seeds of Change’ who will speak at this year’s conference are people that connect, collect and share ideas, the architects of a brighter and better future for Targu-Mures and Romania as a whole. Just like the Sequoia, they overcame the odds stacked against, forged their own paths and united in a single voice: change!
