O Curso de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitectura da Universidade
de Évora foi criado em 2001 e pertence ao Departamento de Arquitectura
e a Escola de Artes, onde se incluem igualmente os departamentos de
Artes Visuais e Design, Artes Cénicas e Música, proporcionando um ambiente
de estudo multidisciplinar único no panorama do ensino da Arquitectura
em Portugal.

Actualmente com cerca de 330 alunos, tem lugar num edifício recentemente
recuperado pelos Arquitectos Inês Lobo e João Maria Ventura Trindade,
obra extensamente publicada em revistas da especialidade, oferecendo as
condições ideais para a aprendizagem da Arquitectura.

O Curso de Mestrado Integrado está estruturado em 10 semestres e a sua formação
assenta na aprendizagem da Arquitectura centrada em cinco ateliers de
projecto, compreendendo-a como uma produção cultural, para onde
confluem as diversas áreas do saber, num ensino claramente ligado à
prática profissional e à investigação. Com uma forte cultura de atelier,
alunos e professores trabalham em conjunto de modo a fazer face a
projectos desafiantes, criando-se assim uma extraordinária relação de
ensino e, acima de tudo, pensamento e aprendizagem da Arquitectura.

A escola tem sido palco de workshops e palestras internacionais, sendo já
reconhecida como uma considerável plataforma de discussão sobre
alguns dos principais temas da cultura arquitectónica contemporânea.




Graduation in Architecture at the University of Évora started in the
academic year 2001/2002 and is offered by the Department of Architecture, which
with the Department of Visual Arts and Design, the Department of Scenic Arts and
Department of Music, constitute the School of the Arts. This unique academic
environment is propitious to a truly multidisciplinary approach to which the architecture
curricula tries to benefit the most making this graduation program accurately
innovative in Portugal.

By 2006 a competition to design and construct a new building, which would host
the School of the Arts, was launched. An old factory was transformed and adapted
following the winning project of the architects Inês Lobo and João Trindade. Today
this new building holds 330 students who have access to state of the art facilities,
including computer labs, a new library, open space studios, workshops for model
making, photo and audio studios. These infrastructures greatly enhance the architectural
learning settings of the Department of Architecture.
The Department offers a six-year degree program in architecture with emphasis in
its last year in advance architectural studies in architecture. The program seeks to
offer a balance between theoretical and practical studies and is divided into 10
Semesters. Learning is based on a strong culture of teaching Design Studios,
where students and teachers work together to tackle challenging projects, thus
creating an extraordinary relationship of education and applied research. The
School of the Arts and the Department of Architecture have organized several
international workshops and lecture series, and are nowadays recognized as a
major platform for discussion on some key issues of contemporary architectural
culture.
