The biggest event in Lisbon is the Feast of Saint Anthony, celebrated across the city from June 12 to 14, with climax on the evening of June 12, with the parade of popular marches on Avenida da Liberdade.
During the Feast, also know as the Lisbon's Sardine Festival, evenings in the most typical neighborhoods are animated with thosands of people on the street singing and dancing to the rhythm of tradicional music. The streets are invaded by the aromas of the tradicional sweet basil pots with written love poems and the smell of delicious grilled sardines, most likely the best you've ever tasted!
