Atelier Base 3

atelierBASE was founded in Lisbon in 2008, by the architects Carlos Sequeira and João Caria Lopes. Nowadays have to partners in charge, João Caria Lopes and André Vieira de Castro. atelierBASE maintains the idea of the “site-specific architecture” as main core, as the final user, the better program, the real budget, adding a bold positive attitude, searching for new ways of human uses in every projects.


Degree in Architecture in 2005 from Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, has participated and won several awards and honors in international and national architecture competitions.
He trained and worked, from 2003 to 2008 in the atelier of Manuel Aires Mateus - Aires Mateus e Associados and occasionally collaborated with Atelier Contemporânea - Manuel Graça Dias and Egas Vieira.
He fixed his own office in 2008, atelierBASE, in collaboration with the architect Carlos Lemos Sequeira.
From 2009-2011 he taught as an assistant professor of the discipline of Project I and II at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa.
Since 2011 is co-director of the magazine ESTUDOPRÉVIO of Centro de Estudos de Arquitectura, Cidade e Território da Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, along with Anthropologist Filipa Ramalhete.
