Organizational Background
WRO is an autonomous, non-governmental, non-political, non–religious, non-commercial and not-for-profit organization.
WRO is working since February 2007, as independent and self motivated organization. It is financed by General Body and Board of Directors (BOD). WRO was registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Act 1961 from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council.

Vision
“A Pakistan based on equality for all in education, opportunity, justice, freedom of speech and freedom of information .A society with a sense and practice of respect for all religions, casts and color. A community based on self-reliance, self-respect and in harmony with environment.

Aims and Objectives

To bring marginalized communities especially women and children into the mainstream of development through improving their social and economic condition and status.
To undertake development initiatives for promoting gender equality and protection of the rights of children.
To improve the literacy rate in all operational areas.
Promotion of human rights.
To enhance participation of the marginalized and neglected groups, especially women and children, in the mainstream of development through creation of friendly environment for increased opportunities in social and economic activities.
To work for relieve and rehabilitation of victims of disaster or emergency situation.

OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

IN THE SECTOR OF EDUCATION

“Only a well educated mind can bring a beautiful smile”
Education forms the basis of any good society. Education teaches us what’s wrong and what’s right. Education drives individuals to self analysis how they attain a better life style. The population boom in our region has contributed to child labor, joblessness, hostile behaviors, and lawlessness.

To chalk out all these evils education system has to be uplifted. Poor people in our society can not afford basic education. This is very sad for one day the youth of our nation has to take it forward.
WRO has taken up the task by providing education accessories and facilities to the community.
Provision of education accessories:
Education accessories like pencils, text books & text copies were distributed free of cost to the students in different schools of AJK.
Computers for free:
Realizing the importance of IT, students of government higher secondary schools for girls were given computers so they too can face modern demands of the global village we live in.
Public Awareness Walks:
WRO arranged a number of awareness walks to draw the attention of common people towards the need and importance of education in the present time. People from all walks of life participated in these walks.


IN THE SECTOR OF RELIEF

Relief Activities in G-11 Slum Area
G 11 Slum Area is one of the backward areas of Islamabad. The area comprising more than 150 households from different areas of Pakistan. The profession of majority of people is labour, average family size is eight members per family, dependency ratio is very high. Majority of households are headed by female members or aged persons. Poverty is one of the main problems of the area.
By keeping in view these problems Waheed Relief Organization distributed food items among them, with the contribution of BOD and Community. Before launching activity a survey was undertaken in the area to assess fifty most deserving families among them. These households were either headed by female widow or by aged person who is not in position to earn something to fulfill the need of his family. Food items including sugar, flour, tea packs, ghee ….etc was distributed among them.
Relief Activities in Flood Affected Area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Heavy monsoon rains caused lot of destructions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan.
WRO team conducted field visits of different flood affected area to assess the destruction caused by the flood. After visit and reports from different sources like print and mass media it was realized that the situation was very miserable and need immediate attention as the response of GOVT and other institutions is not satisfactory. Flood victims not only lost the lives of their loved ones but also the loss of property and livestock is countless. People have lost their sources of income and in order to return towards normal life they need the support as well as encouragement from all of us.
Keeping in mind the immediate need of people WRO set up camps in different areas of Islamabad, not only to collect the relief items but also to draw the attention of common person towards the suffering of human being affected directly as well as indirectly by flood.
Relief items donated by philanthropists as well as from contribution of BOD of WRO, its team visited flood affected area. It is situated at the distance of 6km from Tangi and which is at the distance of 29km from Charsadda. W.R.O team distributed food items comprising rice, flour dates, biscuits, mineral water as well as life saving medicines and blankets, tents among five hundred families living in Tangi High School. Flood victims have no demand of cloths and other things they want just food and medicine and clean drinking water and food supplement.


IN THE SECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

Public walk on Environment Day (5th June, 2010)
Waheed Relief Organization organized “Friends of Environment Walk” at Hiking Trail 5, to celebrate World Environment Day (WED). Senator Humayun Khan, Chairman standing Committee for Environment and Mr. Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, Chairman CDA graced the WED Walk as Chief Guests
The theme of the walk was “Many species. One Planet. One Future”. Walk started at Hiking Track Trail number 5 off the Margalla road. A large number of people from different walks of life participated in this event. Brochures and literature containing information about different types of pollution were distributed among the participants. Every participant realized the importance of environment conservation and was enthusiastic to contribute for this important cause. Students from Universities & School, Volunteers, NGOs/CSOs and eminent personalities from different walks of life participated in the walk in large numbers

IN THE SECTOR OF HUMAN RIGHT

Awareness Walks on Child Rights
Child labour, child abuse, torture on child exists on an extensive scale in Pakistan. Child labor is some times justified due to fact that it is confused with child work. The later is distinguishable from the former in that young people indulging in child labor are exploited, overworked are deprived of their rights to health or education or just to childhood.
According to national report an individual below the age of 18 is considered to be a child. WRO has aims to fight against the abuse of child labor
WRO has been arranged a number of activities for the protection of rights of children since 2008. These include awareness walks, seminars…etc.
Basic Human Rights Awareness
Basic human rights are an essential part of human species. We being humans have a specified way of functioning. Due to this factor human are called supreme among all the
other living beings. Ensuring that every one gets a fair share, that they are respected, that they are considered human, Leeds to freedom of the society.

Justice in a society produces minds which harbor a hostile thinking. Many people in our society are unaware of the rights due to lack of education. WRO has arranged seminars under rules of conduct and ethic of the advocacy and judicial professionals. WRO made efforts for the awareness of the law and on how to achieve the justice.

WRO has a program for the future to conduct the seminars and workshops. In which both the lawyers and community members together point out the problems and how these problems can be solve with the join efforts of both segment of society. It is also aim of WRO to provide the free legal aid to the deserving segment of the society.
Minority Rights:
Realizing and utilizing the minorities of our country WRO aims to protect their rights and ensure their participation for the development of our nation. A meeting between all the member societies of christens was called for chalk out and point out the problems facing these societies. Discussions, suggestions were given in the meeting.
