The Aga Khan Hospital for Women, Karimabad was established in 1979 and a Diagnostic and Day Surgery wing was added in 1999. AKUH, K took the management responsibility of the Hospital in April 2009. The hospital was legally integrated with the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi in October 2010 with the mandate of getting Joint Commission International Accreditation for the Hospital and establishment of an integrated and well-knit health care system of Aga Khan primary health centers, secondary hospitals and tertiary care hospital.

The Aga Khan Hospital for Women, Karimabad is a 40-bed, ISO certified secondary care hospital for obstetrics and gynecology and provides quality and cost-effective health care to approximately 5,000 hospitalized patients and to over 100,000 outpatients annually with the help of professional staff and facilities.

It also offers a wide range of Day Care Surgeries, Diagnostic Services, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy Services and Consulting Clinics in multiple specialties. Fifty percent of the total doctors practicing at Aga Khan Hospital for Women and its Diagnostic and Day Surgery Centre are faculty members from Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi and rest of them are also credentialed by the University Hospital. Care is available to all patients in need. Those who are unable to pay for treatment, receive assistance through the Hospital’s Patient Welfare programme.
