Model United Nations (more commonly referred to as an 'MUN') is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current world scenarios, international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations' agenda such as the Millennium Developmental Goals. MUNs promote students' interest in international relations, increases the student's capacity to engage in problem solving, consider the dynamic aspects of conflict resolution, research skills, and communication skills, and most of importantly creates the opportunity to meet new people and sharer views on a grand platform. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a particular country or nation in a simulated session of various committees of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research the background of a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to current world problems. Such a simulation results in developing much needed analytical, problem solving and communication skills which are nothing short of compulsory in today’s competitive environment.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will greatly benefit if such a conference is organized, the main motive of this MUN is the revival of the Khyber culture. It has been tempered with and damaged to such a grand extent because of terrorism that it is almost on the brink of annihilation.
